Frequently Asked Questions
Who can Happy Home Pediatrics see?
Any patients from birth to 18 years of age, via telemedicine, in the entire state of California. In regard to home visits, for patients from birth to 18 years of age, current areas serviced are Upland, Claremont, La Verne, San Dimas and Glendora.
What is telemedicine?
Telemedicine leverages technology to provide healthcare services remotely. It enables patients and their families to engage in secure, HIPAA-compliant video appointments, during which healthcare providers can assess, diagnose, and treat patients without the need for an in-person visit. Telemedicine offers high-quality care while eliminating the inconvenience of travel and the associated costs, as well as reducing time away from work, school, or daycare. All telemedicine consultations are conducted securely, ensuring that conversations with healthcare providers and medical records remain confidential and protected.
What can a nurse practitioner assess and treat via telemedicine?
Rashes, stings/bites and skin infections
Fevers
Cold symptoms (upper respiratory, bronchitis, croup)
Pink eye
Gi issues (vomiting and diarrhea)
Abrasions, cuts, scrapes, and puncture wounds
Please see your regular pediatrician for:
Physicals that require vaccinations
Chronic condition management
Lab work
Imaging (X-rays, MRIs, etc.)
What technology do I need for a virtual visit?
For your virtual visit, you'll need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with cellular or internet connectivity, a webcam, and audio capabilities. A link will be sent to you shortly before your appointment time; simply click on it to connect with the provider. Please ensure your child is present for the visit.
A home visit involves the provider coming to your home at the scheduled appointment time. During this visit, the provider can perform assessments that necessitate physical contact, such as using an otoscope to check the ears, listening to the lungs, and conducting rapid tests for strep throat, influenza, COVID, as well as urinalysis. It's important to note that the patient must be present for home visits, which enable the assessment and diagnosis of conditions that telemedicine cannot address.
Does Happy Home Pediatrics provide school or work notes for the patient and/or parent?
Certainly, if the illness necessitates absence from school or requires a parent/guardian to take time off work, the healthcare provider will gladly issue a note. This note can be emailed following a telemedicine appointment or provided in person after a face-to-face consultation.
How will I get prescriptions if deemed necessary by the provider?
Medication prescriptions will be sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy in a timely manner.
What are the hours of operation for Happy Home Pediatrics?
As an independent provider, I am committed to accommodating requests for telemedicine and home visits.
Please note that hours may vary, but you can always check my current availability on the booking website.
Does Happy Home Pediatrics accept medical insurance?
Happy Home Pediatrics does not accept medical insurance; it operates on a flat-fee, cash-only basis. However, all major credit cards are accepted and must be provided prior to scheduling an appointment.
Can the patient/parent contact the provider if they have questions or concerns outside of appointment time?
For a quick and efficient response, please feel free to text or call at your convenience. You may also message your provider directly through the patient portal on our website. Furthermore, you can contact the provider via email using the address provided on our site for additional assistance.
What is your cancellation policy for telemedicine and home visits?
To respect the time of the provider and other patients seeking appointments, a cancellation occurring less than 12 hours prior to the scheduled time will incur a 50% fee deduction from the payment. If there is a no-show for a telemedicine appointment, or if the provider arrives for an in-home visit and finds no one available, the full fee will be charged.
